The City of Flagstaff is seeking dedicated and reliable individuals to join our team as Part-Time School Crossing Guards. This vital role plays a crucial part in ensuring the safety of children traveling to and from school, contributing directly to the peace of mind of families and the overall well-being of our community. As a Crossing Guard, you will be the friendly and vigilant face of safety at designated school intersections, guiding pedestrians across busy streets and managing vehicle traffic flow during peak school hours. You will work outdoors in various weather conditions, serving as a critical link between students, parents, and school staff. Key Responsibilities
- Safely guide school children and other pedestrians across designated streets at school crossings.
- Manage and control vehicular traffic flow during assigned crossing periods to ensure pedestrian safety.
- Place and retrieve 'School Crossing' signs and other safety equipment at designated locations.
- Maintain high visibility and alertness at all times, monitoring the intersection for potential hazards.
- Communicate effectively and courteously with children, parents, motorists, and school personnel.
- Report any unusual incidents, traffic violations, or safety concerns to appropriate authorities.
- Adhere to established schedules, ensuring punctuality and consistent presence during assigned shifts.
- Provide a positive and reassuring presence for students and community members.
