Job Description
Cormoran Lodge is seeking a dedicated and meticulous Part-Time Housekeeper to join our night shift team. This vital role ensures our lodge remains spotless and welcoming, even as our guests sleep. As a Night Shift Housekeeper, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house facilities during the overnight hours. Your keen eye for detail and commitment to hygiene will directly contribute to our guests’ comfort and satisfaction, allowing them to wake up to a fresh and pristine environment. This position requires reliability, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. You will play a crucial role in preparing the lodge for the next day’s operations, handling laundry, and ensuring all areas meet our high standards of cleanliness. Key Responsibilities
- Perform general cleaning duties in assigned guest rooms, including making beds, dusting, vacuuming, cleaning bathrooms, and restocking amenities.
- Clean and maintain public areas such as lobbies, hallways, restrooms, and dining areas according to established standards during off-peak hours.
- Handle and sort laundry, including washing, drying, folding, and distributing linens and towels.
- Monitor and report any maintenance issues, damage, or safety hazards observed during the shift.
- Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and guest room amenities, informing supervisors of stock levels.
- Adhere to all health, safety, and hygiene regulations and lodge policies.
- Ensure security of all guest rooms and lodge property accessed during the shift.
- Assist with deep cleaning projects as scheduled or required.
- Maintain a professional and discreet demeanor at all times, especially when guests may be present in public areas.
- Respond promptly and efficiently to guest requests or emergencies, if applicable.
Required Skills
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent attention to detail and a high standard of cleanliness.
- Physical stamina and ability to perform tasks requiring bending, lifting, pushing, and pulling.
- Reliability and punctuality, especially for night shift schedules.
- Basic knowledge of cleaning products and equipment usage.
- Strong work ethic and a proactive approach to tasks.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in hotel housekeeping or a similar role.
- Familiarity with hospitality industry standards and procedures.
- Basic proficiency in English or French (in addition to Kinyarwanda) to communicate with team members.
- Ability to operate industrial laundry equipment.
- Previous experience working night shifts.
