Job Description

Career.supersecrets is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Junior Paralegal to join our dynamic legal support team. This is an exceptional opportunity for an individual with a foundational understanding of legal principles, keen attention to detail, and a desire to grow within the legal profession. As a Junior Paralegal, you will play a crucial role in assisting our solicitors and legal executives with a variety of tasks, gaining invaluable experience across different areas of law. While our main office is in Inverness, we are pleased to offer remote work options, allowing flexibility for candidates who can effectively manage their workload and collaborate virtually.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct legal research using various databases and resources to support ongoing cases.
  • Assist in the preparation and drafting of legal documents, including briefs, pleadings, contracts, and correspondence.
  • Organise and maintain physical and electronic case files, ensuring accuracy and accessibility.
  • Communicate professionally with clients, courts, and other external parties under supervision.
  • Schedule appointments, court dates, and meetings, managing calendars effectively.
  • Review and summarise documents, reports, and testimonies.
  • Support solicitors and senior paralegals with administrative tasks as required.
  • Assist with trial preparation, including organising exhibits and witness materials.
  • Adhere strictly to legal ethics and confidentiality protocols at all times.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to ongoing process improvements.

Required Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organisational abilities and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to conduct basic legal research.
  • High degree of professionalism and ethical conduct.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • HND, HNC, or Diploma in Paralegal Studies or Law.
  • Previous experience (even internships) in a legal administrative or paralegal role.
  • Familiarity with Scottish legal procedures and terminology.
  • Experience with case management software.
