Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive eye examinations using advanced diagnostic equipment.
- Accurately diagnose and manage various ocular conditions, prescribing corrective lenses as needed.
- Provide expert advice and fitting services for contact lenses, including ongoing aftercare.
- Refer patients to ophthalmologists or other medical professionals when necessary, ensuring seamless care pathways.
- Maintain meticulous and accurate patient records, adhering to GOC and company standards.
- Educate patients on ocular health, contact lens hygiene, and eyewear options.
- Collaborate effectively with dispensing opticians, optical assistants, and store management to ensure a smooth patient journey and excellent customer service.
Required Skills
- Registered with the General Optical Council (GOC) as a qualified Optometrist.
- Demonstrable clinical excellence and a commitment to continuous professional development (CPD).
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with patients of all ages.
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in using modern ophthalmic equipment (e.g., OCT, Fundus camera, Slit Lamp).
- A compassionate and patient-centric approach to healthcare.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with enhanced optical services (e.g., MECS, PEARS, Glaucoma shared care).
- Independent Prescribing (IP) qualification.
- Post-graduate qualifications or specialisations in specific areas of optometry.
