Job Description

Career.supersecrets is actively seeking a highly skilled and results-driven Operations Manager with a strong background in both logistics and manufacturing for a pivotal role based in Gusau, Zamfara. This critical position will involve overseeing the daily operational activities of a key client in the region, ensuring optimal efficiency, productivity, and profitability across their supply chain and production lines. The successful candidate will be instrumental in streamlining processes, managing resources effectively, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the operational framework. You will be responsible for translating strategic goals into tangible operational plans, driving performance metrics, and ensuring strict adherence to quality standards and safety regulations. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement operational strategies to enhance efficiency and productivity across manufacturing and logistics functions.
  • Oversee daily production schedules, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of goods while maintaining quality standards.
  • Manage inventory levels, optimize warehousing operations, and streamline distribution processes to minimize waste and maximize throughput.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team, fostering a positive work environment and ensuring adherence to company policies and safety protocols.
  • Identify bottlenecks and implement corrective actions to improve operational flow and reduce lead times.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and generate reports to track operational performance, identify trends, and inform strategic decisions.
  • Collaborate with procurement, sales, and finance departments to align operational activities with overall business objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant industry regulations, quality standards, and health and safety guidelines.
  • Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts to secure favorable terms for materials, equipment, and services.
  • Implement and champion lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies to drive operational excellence.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in operations management within a manufacturing or logistics setting (minimum 3-5 years).
  • Strong leadership and team management skills with a track record of motivating and developing staff.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
  • Proficiency in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and other operational software.
  • In-depth knowledge of supply chain management, inventory control, and production planning.
  • Strong understanding of quality control processes and regulatory compliance.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging with all levels of an organization.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Logistics, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Master's degree or professional certifications (e.g., APICS, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing) are a strong advantage.
  • Experience with process optimization and continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Kaizen).
  • Familiarity with the local business landscape and supply chain infrastructure in Zamfara State.
  • Proficiency in spoken Hausa language.
