Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Occupational Therapist (OTR) in implementing individualized treatment plans for patients.
- Provide direct patient care, including therapeutic exercises, activities, and interventions as prescribed by the OTR.
- Monitor patient's progress, document observations accurately, and report any significant changes to the supervising OTR.
- Educate patients and their families/caregivers on therapeutic activities, adaptive techniques, and home exercise programs.
- Prepare and maintain treatment areas, ensuring all equipment is clean, sanitized, and functional.
- Fabricate or modify adaptive equipment and assistive devices under the guidance of the OTR.
- Contribute to patient assessments by gathering data and reporting relevant information to the OTR.
- Ensure patient safety and adherence to all facility policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
- Participate actively in interdisciplinary team meetings to coordinate patient care and achieve optimal outcomes.
- Maintain accurate and timely patient records, progress notes, and billing documentation.
Required Skills
- Associate's degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) program.
- Current or pending Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) licensure in the State of Oklahoma.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a team-oriented healthcare environment.
- Demonstrated compassion, empathy, and patience in patient interactions.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities, particularly for documentation.
- Physical ability to perform duties, including lifting, bending, standing for extended periods, and assisting patients with mobility.
