Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the planning and delivery of age-appropriate activities that promote children's physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development.
- Support children's personal care routines, including feeding, changing, and toileting, maintaining high standards of hygiene.
- Observe and record children's progress, contributing to their developmental profiles and communicating effectively with parents/guardians.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all children at all times, adhering to safeguarding policies and procedures.
- Maintain a clean, tidy, and stimulating environment, ensuring resources are accessible and well-maintained.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues, contributing to a positive and cohesive team atmosphere.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and continuous professional development opportunities.
- Adhere to all nursery policies and procedures, including health and safety, equality, and diversity.
Required Skills
- Genuine passion for working with young children and their development.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to engage with children, parents, and colleagues.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently when required.
- Reliable, punctual, and committed to providing high-quality childcare.
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection principles.
- Basic knowledge of early years frameworks (e.g., Curriculum for Excellence, Pre-Birth to Three).
Preferred Qualifications
- SVQ Level 2 in Social Services (Children and Young People) or equivalent.
- Previous experience working in a nursery or childcare setting (volunteer or paid).
- First Aid certification (Paediatric First Aid highly desirable).
- Food Hygiene certificate.
