As a Nursery Assistant, you will play a truly pivotal role in the daily lives of children aged 0-5 years. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the planning and implementation of creative and educational activities for children across various age groups (0-5 years).
  • Support children’s personal care routines, including feeding, changing, and promoting good hygiene practices.
  • Observe and monitor children’s development, contributing to their individual learning records and progress reports.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all children under your care, adhering strictly to safeguarding and health & safety policies.
  • Create a stimulating, inclusive, and nurturing environment that encourages learning through play and exploration.
  • Build positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues, fostering open and effective communication.
  • Assist with tidying, cleaning, and maintaining the nursery environment to ensure a high standard of cleanliness and organisation.
  • Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and continuous professional development opportunities.

Required Skills

  • A genuine passion for working with young children and supporting their development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children, parents, and staff.
  • Patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently when required.
  • Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
  • A proactive and adaptable attitude, able to respond to the needs of the children and the nursery.
  • Understanding of child protection and safeguarding procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Level 2 or 3 qualification in Early Years Education and Childcare (e.g., NVQ, CACHE, BTEC).
  • Previous experience working in a nursery, pre-school, or other childcare setting.
  • Knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Phase (EYFP) curriculum in Wales.
  • Current Paediatric First Aid certificate.
  • Enhanced DBS check registered on the update service (or willingness to obtain one).
