Job Description
The San Diego Humane Society is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Non-Profit Program Manager to lead and optimize key animal welfare initiatives within our Mission Valley operations. This pivotal role involves overseeing the full lifecycle of assigned programs, from strategic planning and development to execution, evaluation, and continuous improvement. The Program Manager will be instrumental in translating our organizational mission into actionable programs that deliver measurable impact in animal care, community engagement, and humane education. You will be responsible for ensuring program goals are met within budget and on schedule, aligning all activities with our values of compassion, integrity, and service. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive program plans, including scope, objectives, timelines, and resource allocation, ensuring alignment with organizational mission and strategic goals.
- Oversee program budgets, ensuring fiscal responsibility, monitoring expenditures, and reporting on financial performance.
- Recruit, train, mentor, and supervise program staff and volunteers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with community partners, stakeholders, and internal departments to maximize program effectiveness and reach.
- Design and implement robust evaluation frameworks to measure program impact, collect data, and generate compelling reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Identify grant opportunities and assist in the preparation of funding proposals, ensuring compliance with grant requirements and reporting.
- Represent the organization at community events, conferences, and meetings to promote programs and build awareness.
- Ensure all program activities comply with relevant regulations, organizational policies, and best practices in animal welfare.
- Proactively identify challenges and develop innovative solutions to optimize program efficiency and impact.
- Contribute to the strategic planning process for program expansion and diversification.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in program management within a non-profit setting.
- Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, and evaluate programs effectively.
- Strong project management skills, including budgeting, timeline management, and resource allocation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
- Proven leadership capabilities, with experience managing staff and/or volunteers.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and project management software.
- Exceptional organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Passion for animal welfare and a deep understanding of humane practices.

Preferred Qualifications
