Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design and implementation of research methodologies, including surveys, interviews, and focus group discussions.
  • Conduct literature reviews and gather relevant background information on project-specific topics.
  • Support fieldwork activities, including data collection from target communities in Kitale and surrounding areas.
  • Organize, clean, and input data into appropriate databases or spreadsheets.
  • Perform basic qualitative and quantitative data analysis under supervision.
  • Contribute to the drafting and editing of research reports, proposals, and presentations.
  • Maintain accurate and organized records of all research materials and data.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for improving research processes and project outcomes.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Statistics, Public Health, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Swahili.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ethical research practices.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous volunteer or internship experience in a research or non-profit setting.
  • Familiarity with data analysis software (e.g., SPSS, R, Stata, NVivo) or survey platforms (e.g., KoboToolbox, SurveyMonkey).
  • Knowledge of local dialects spoken in Trans-Nzoia County.
  • Understanding of community development principles and challenges in Kenya.
