Job Description
O’Brien & Gere is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Naval Architect to join our growing team in Baltimore, Maryland. The successful candidate will play a vital role in the design, development, and construction oversight of various naval projects. This position demands a strong understanding of hydrodynamic principles, structural analysis, and marine engineering practices. You will collaborate with engineers, designers, and clients to ensure projects meet specifications, budget requirements, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will be a creative problem-solver with a passion for innovation and a commitment to delivering high-quality results. This role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects, from the conceptual design phase to project completion, significantly contributing to the success of our clients’ endeavors. Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop naval architectures, including hull forms, structural systems, and propulsion systems.
- Conduct hydrodynamic and structural analyses using various software tools.
- Prepare detailed design drawings, specifications, and technical reports.
- Collaborate with engineers, designers, and clients to ensure project success.
- Oversee the construction and testing of naval vessels.
- Maintain compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards.
- Contribute to the development of innovative solutions and technologies.
- Manage project timelines and budgets effectively.
Required Skills
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Navisworks, and other relevant CAD software
- Strong understanding of hydrodynamic principles and naval architecture practices
- Experience with structural analysis and finite element analysis (FEA)
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Naval Architecture or Marine Engineering
- Professional engineering license (PE)
