Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and control mineral processing plant operations, including crushing, milling, flotation, leaching, and smelting circuits.
- Conduct regular sampling and testing of process streams to ensure quality control and adherence to metallurgical specifications.
- Analyze process data and operational parameters to identify trends, troubleshoot issues, and recommend corrective actions.
- Assist in the calibration, maintenance, and minor repair of processing equipment and instrumentation.
- Prepare detailed operational reports, including production data, reagent consumption, and equipment performance.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety, health, environmental, and quality (SHEQ) policies and procedures.
- Optimize reagent dosages and process conditions to maximize mineral recovery and minimize operational costs.
- Participate in commissioning new plant equipment and process modifications.
- Provide training and mentorship to junior operators and assistants as required.
- Collaborate with metallurgical engineers and plant management to implement process improvements and achieve production targets.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in mineral processing operations (e.g., gold, platinum, chrome, coal).
- Strong understanding of metallurgical principles and process control.
- Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting processing plant equipment.
- Ability to interpret process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
- Excellent data analysis and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in using industrial control systems (DCS/SCADA) is an advantage.
- High level of safety consciousness and commitment to SHEQ standards.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in reporting.
- Computer literacy (MS Office Suite).
Preferred Qualifications
- Higher National Diploma or Degree in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, Mineral Processing, or a related field.
- Certifications in plant operations, safety, or environmental management.
- Experience with advanced process optimization software.
- Familiarity with ISO standards relevant to mining operations.
- Previous experience in a supervisory or senior technician role.
