Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive antenatal care, including regular assessments, health education, and psychosocial support to expectant mothers.
- Manage labour and delivery processes, monitoring maternal and fetal well-being, administering medication as required, and performing necessary interventions.
- Offer immediate postnatal care to mothers and newborns, ensuring successful breastfeeding, monitoring for complications, and providing emotional support.
- Conduct newborn assessments, identify potential issues, and provide appropriate care and referrals.
- Educate patients and their families on maternal health topics, family planning, infant care, nutrition, and hygiene.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, ensuring confidentiality and adherence to hospital protocols.
- Collaborate effectively with obstetricians, nurses, paediatricians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and integrated patient care.
- Respond promptly and effectively to obstetric emergencies, initiating appropriate interventions and escalation procedures.
- Participate in departmental meetings, training sessions, and continuous professional development activities.
- Adhere strictly to infection control standards, safety protocols, and ethical guidelines in all aspects of care delivery.
Required Skills
- Proven expertise in antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal care.
- Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills specific to maternal health.
- Proficiency in managing normal labour and delivery, and identifying complications.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and empathy skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and in fast-paced environments.
