Dar Al Shifa Hospital is seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technologist to join our dynamic and vital laboratory team. In this critical role, you will be instrumental in supporting our medical staff by performing a wide range of laboratory tests, analyses, and procedures with precision and accuracy. Key Responsibilities
- Perform complex laboratory tests and analyses on patient samples (blood, urine, tissue, etc.) across various disciplines including Hematology, Clinical Chemistry, Microbiology, Immunology, and Blood Bank.
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring proper functioning and adherence to operational guidelines.
- Execute and interpret quality control procedures, troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, and take corrective actions as needed.
- Accurately record, document, and report test results in the Laboratory Information System (LIS) within established turnaround times.
- Adhere strictly to all laboratory safety protocols, infection control policies, and waste disposal procedures.
- Prepare reagents, stains, and solutions according to standard operating procedures.
- Evaluate the validity of test results and communicate critical findings to appropriate medical personnel in a timely manner.
- Participate in proficiency testing programs and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies and reagents, ensuring adequate stock levels.
- Assist in the training and orientation of new laboratory personnel and students as required.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Medical Laboratory Technologist in a hospital or clinical laboratory setting
- Proficiency in performing a wide range of laboratory tests (Hematology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Blood Bank, Immunology)
- Strong understanding of quality control and assurance principles
- Familiarity with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS)
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of laboratory safety protocols and regulations
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Medical Technology or a related field
