Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and process patient specimens (blood, urine, tissue, etc.) for laboratory testing following established protocols.
- Perform various laboratory tests accurately and efficiently, including but not limited to hematology, chemistry, microbiology, and urinalysis tests.
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring proper functionality and troubleshooting minor issues.
- Adhere strictly to quality control procedures, safety regulations, and HIPAA guidelines to ensure accurate results and patient confidentiality.
- Document test results thoroughly and accurately, maintaining detailed records of all procedures.
- Assist in maintaining inventory of laboratory supplies and reagents, notifying supervisors of needs.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development activities.
- Clean and sterilize equipment and work areas to maintain a sterile and safe laboratory environment.
- Collaborate effectively with pathologists, lab managers, and other healthcare professionals.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or GED.
- Strong foundational understanding of basic scientific principles (biology, chemistry).
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to follow complex instructions and protocols precisely.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency with basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).

Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology, Biology, Chemistry, or a related scientific field.

- Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) by ASCP or AMT (or eligibility to obtain).
