Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior technologists in preparing patient samples for various laboratory analyses.
- Learn to perform basic laboratory tests under direct supervision, including routine urinalysis, hematology counts, and basic chemistry panels.
- Prepare and label reagents, solutions, and culture media according to established standard operating procedures.
- Maintain and clean laboratory equipment, glassware, and work areas to ensure a sterile and safe testing environment.
- Accurately document test results and other relevant data in laboratory information systems (LIS) or manual logs.
- Adhere strictly to all quality control standards, laboratory safety protocols, and regulatory guidelines (e.g., CLIA, CAP).
- Participate actively in all required training sessions and ongoing professional development programs.
- Properly handle, store, and dispose of biohazardous waste materials according to safety regulations.
- Assist with inventory management, stocking supplies, and notifying supervisors of low stock levels.
- Communicate effectively with team members regarding sample status, testing progress, and any discrepancies or issues.
- Perform routine calibration and maintenance checks on laboratory instruments as instructed.
