Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare patient samples for laboratory testing according to established protocols.
  • Perform routine laboratory tests under supervision, including hematology, chemistry, urinalysis, and microbiology procedures.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring proper calibration and functionality.
  • Document and report test results accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Adhere strictly to quality control procedures and participate in proficiency testing.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
  • Follow all laboratory safety guidelines, including the proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Assist with inventory management and ordering of supplies.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development activities.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding lab operations and results.

Required Skills

  • Associate's Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) or a related science field (e.g., Biology, Chemistry).
  • Strong foundational knowledge of laboratory principles and techniques.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and protocols precisely.
  • Basic computer proficiency (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to patient confidentiality and ethical practices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Eligibility for certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) by ASCP or AMT upon graduation.
  • Prior academic lab experience beyond coursework (e.g., research projects, volunteer work).
  • Familiarity with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS).
