Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine laboratory tests, including but not limited to hematology, chemistry, urinalysis, and microbiology, under close supervision and after thorough training.
- Prepare biological specimens for testing, ensuring proper labeling, aliquoting, and processing according to established protocols and regulatory guidelines.
- Operate and maintain a variety of laboratory equipment, including automated analyzers, performing daily quality control checks and basic troubleshooting procedures.
- Accurately record, interpret, and report test results using laboratory information systems, adhering strictly to turnaround times and quality standards.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment, strictly following all laboratory safety guidelines, infection control practices, and standard operating procedures.
- Assist in maintaining inventory of reagents, consumables, and supplies, notifying supervisors of low stock levels to ensure uninterrupted workflow.
- Actively participate in ongoing training programs, competency assessments, and continuing education initiatives to ensure continuous professional development and adherence to best practices.
- Adhere to all local, state, and federal regulatory agency requirements (e.g., CLIA, CAP) and company policies governing laboratory operations.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with team members, supervisors, and other healthcare professionals regarding test results, equipment issues, and workflow concerns.
- Contribute to quality assurance and improvement initiatives within the laboratory by identifying potential issues and suggesting enhancements.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or GED required.
