Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive medical examinations, accurately diagnose illnesses, and provide appropriate treatment.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including laboratory analyses, imaging, and other specialized investigations.
- Develop and implement individualized patient management plans, adjusting as necessary based on patient response and evolving conditions.
- Prescribe medications and other treatments, ensuring patient safety and adherence to best practices.
- Perform minor surgical procedures and emergency interventions as required.
- Provide clear and compassionate communication to patients and their families regarding diagnoses, prognoses, and treatment options.
- Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams, including nurses, specialists, and allied health professionals.
- Maintain accurate, confidential, and up-to-date medical records and patient charts.
- Participate in hospital rounds, clinical meetings, and continuing medical education programs.
- Adhere strictly to medical ethics, professional standards, and all relevant healthcare regulations and hospital policies.
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and patient safety protocols within the hospital.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior medical staff and interns.
Required Skills
- Medical Degree (MBBS/MBBCh) from a recognized institution.
- Full registration and current practicing license with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN).
- Proven experience in general medical practice, preferably within a hospital setting.
- Excellent diagnostic and clinical decision-making skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
- Proficiency in basic life support (BLS) and advanced cardiac life support (ACLS).
- High level of professionalism, empathy, and ethical conduct.
- Proficiency in using electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-NYSC experience in a reputable tertiary hospital.
- Additional certifications in specialized medical fields (e.g., family medicine, internal medicine).
- Experience in emergency medicine or critical care.
