Key Responsibilities
- Process medical claims accurately and efficiently to insurance companies and patients.
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits, ensuring correct claim submission.
- Review and resolve denied or rejected claims, initiating appeals when necessary.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical coding (CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS) and billing regulations.
- Communicate effectively with patients regarding billing inquiries and payment arrangements.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to obtain necessary documentation for billing.
- Reconcile payments from insurance companies and patients against billed services.
- Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly billing reports.
- Ensure strict adherence to HIPAA and other relevant privacy regulations.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance billing efficiency and accuracy.
Required Skills
- Minimum 2 years of experience in medical billing or a related healthcare administrative role.
- Proficiency in medical coding (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS) and medical terminology.
- Strong understanding of insurance claim submission and denial management.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficient in using medical billing software (e.g., Epic, Cerner, Kareo, etc.).
