Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and patient-focused Medical Assistant to join our dedicated team in Springfield, Illinois. This full-time, on-site position offers an exciting opportunity to play a vital role in delivering comprehensive patient care within a dynamic clinical setting. Key Responsibilities

  • Greet and escort patients to examination rooms, preparing them for medical examinations and procedures.
  • Obtain and document patient vital signs, medical histories, and chief complaints accurately in electronic health records (EHR).
  • Assist physicians and other healthcare providers during examinations, minor surgical procedures, and treatments.
  • Perform various clinical tasks, including venipuncture, injections, wound care, and basic laboratory tests as directed.
  • Sterilize medical instruments and maintain cleanliness of examination rooms and equipment.
  • Provide patient education and instructions regarding medications, treatments, and follow-up care.
  • Manage patient schedules, appointments, referrals, and prescription refills.
  • Answer patient inquiries and relay information from providers as appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated patient care.
  • Order and maintain medical supplies and inventory for the clinic.

Required Skills

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
  • Current Medical Assistant certification (e.g., CCMA, CMA, RMA, NCMA).
  • Minimum of 12 months of experience as a Medical Assistant in a clinical setting.
  • Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
  • CPR certification.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Epic EHR system.
  • Prior experience in a multispecialty clinic or hospital setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle a high volume of patients.
  • Bilingual proficiency (e.g., Spanish/English).
