We are seeking a highly motivated and patient-focused Medical Assistant to join our dedicated team in Springfield, Illinois. Key Responsibilities
- Greet and escort patients to examination rooms, preparing them for medical examinations and procedures.
- Obtain and document patient vital signs, medical histories, and chief complaints accurately in electronic health records (EHR).
- Assist physicians and other healthcare providers during examinations, minor surgical procedures, and treatments.
- Perform various clinical tasks, including venipuncture, injections, wound care, and basic laboratory tests as directed.
- Sterilize medical instruments and maintain cleanliness of examination rooms and equipment.
- Provide patient education and instructions regarding medications, treatments, and follow-up care.
- Manage patient schedules, appointments, referrals, and prescription refills.
- Answer patient inquiries and relay information from providers as appropriate.
- Maintain accurate and confidential patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated patient care.
- Order and maintain medical supplies and inventory for the clinic.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
- Current Medical Assistant certification (e.g., CCMA, CMA, RMA, NCMA).
- Minimum of 12 months of experience as a Medical Assistant in a clinical setting.
- Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- CPR certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Epic EHR system.
- Prior experience in a multispecialty clinic or hospital setting.
- Demonstrated ability to handle a high volume of patients.
- Bilingual proficiency (e.g., Spanish/English).
