Job Description
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Medical Assistant to join our team at a busy clinic in Salt Lake City. The ideal candidate will be a highly organized and detail-oriented individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You will work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care. This is a fast-paced environment, requiring efficiency and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Responsibilities include but are not limited to taking and recording vital signs, assisting with examinations, preparing patients for procedures, sterilizing instruments, maintaining patient records, and handling insurance verification and patient billing inquiries. Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems is highly desirable. Key Responsibilities
- Taking and recording vital signs (height, weight, blood pressure, temperature, etc.)
- Assisting physicians with examinations and procedures
- Preparing patients for examinations and treatments
- Sterilizing medical instruments and equipment
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records, both paper and electronic
- Handling patient inquiries and addressing concerns in a professional and empathetic manner
- Scheduling appointments and managing patient flow
- Performing basic laboratory tests and collecting specimens
- Assisting with insurance verification and billing processes
- Maintaining a clean and organized work environment
Required Skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Proficiency in medical terminology
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Knowledge of medical procedures and equipment
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems (preferred)
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA)
- Previous experience in a medical office setting
- Experience with specific EHR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner)
- Bilingual skills (Spanish/English)
- Phlebotomy certification
