Job Description

Klerksdorp Motor Group in Ermelo, Mpumalanga, is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Mechanic Workshop Helper to join our dynamic service team. As a Mechanic Workshop Helper, you will play a crucial supporting role, ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our service centre. Your primary responsibilities will involve assisting qualified mechanics with various tasks, maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the workshop, and ensuring tools and equipment are properly cared for. This role is perfect for someone who is hands-on, physically capable, and keen to absorb knowledge and develop practical skills in vehicle maintenance and repair. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist qualified mechanics with routine maintenance, vehicle inspections, and minor repairs.
  • Clean and organize the workshop area, ensuring a safe and tidy working environment at all times.
  • Wash and clean vehicles before and after servicing as required.
  • Retrieve and put away tools and equipment, ensuring they are clean and in good working condition.
  • Perform basic tasks such as topping up fluids, checking tyre pressure, and replacing simple components.
  • Support the parts department by assisting with receiving and dispatching parts.
  • Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and environmental regulations and workshop procedures.
  • Learn from experienced technicians and actively seek opportunities to develop mechanical knowledge and skills.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and collaborate effectively with all team members.

Required Skills

  • Basic understanding of vehicle components and a keen interest in automotive mechanics.
  • Ability to follow instructions accurately and efficiently.
  • Strong work ethic and a willingness to learn and grow.
  • Physical fitness and ability to lift heavy objects and stand for extended periods.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Matric (Grade 12) certificate or equivalent.
  • Some prior experience in a workshop or industrial environment (even informal or volunteer).
  • Valid South African driver's license (Code B/8).
