Job Description

Are you a creative digital native with a passion for impactful storytelling? The Kenya Red Cross Society, Wajir Branch, is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Marketing Intern specializing in Digital Media with a strong creative flair. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the creation of engaging digital content (graphics, short videos, animations, infographics) for various social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube) in line with KRCS brand guidelines.
  • Support the development and implementation of digital marketing campaigns to promote awareness of KRCS programs, events, and emergency appeals in Wajir County.
  • Help manage and update the organization's digital platforms, including social media accounts and potentially local website content, ensuring fresh and relevant information.
  • Contribute to content brainstorming sessions, bringing innovative and creative ideas for digital storytelling.
  • Monitor social media trends, engagement metrics, and community feedback to optimize content performance and reach.
  • Assist in basic photography and videography for local events and activities, and help with post-production editing.
  • Draft compelling copy for social media posts, blog articles, and other digital communication materials.
  • Support the coordination of digital communication efforts with other departments and local volunteers.
  • Maintain an organized digital asset library.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator)
  • Basic video editing skills (e.g., CapCut, InShot, Adobe Premiere Rush)
  • Strong understanding of major social media platforms and their best practices (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Swahili
  • Demonstrated creativity and an eye for aesthetics
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • High level of initiative and proactivity

Preferred Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a diploma or degree in Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • Prior experience (even voluntary or academic) in content creation or social media management.
  • Familiarity with the humanitarian sector or local community issues in Wajir County.
  • Knowledge of local dialects is a plus.
