Job Description
As a Manufacturing Process Engineer at Rolls-Royce, you will be a pivotal force in optimising and enhancing our advanced manufacturing processes within our Civil Aerospace division. Based at our state-of-the-art facility in Derby, you will play an instrumental role in ensuring the efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness of our production lines for critical, high-precision components. This challenging and dynamic position involves working across the full product lifecycle, from initial design and development through to serial production and continuous improvement initiatives for existing processes.
You will be responsible for defining, developing, and implementing robust manufacturing processes, leveraging your expertise in lean methodologies, advanced manufacturing techniques, and astute problem-solving. Your work will directly contribute to the reduction of waste, improvement of throughput, and adherence to the most stringent quality standards, all while expertly supporting the introduction of new products and technologies into our manufacturing ecosystem. This is an unparalleled opportunity to work on complex, high-value projects within a world-leading, innovative engineering environment, collaborating extensively with multi-disciplinary teams including design, quality assurance, supply chain, and operations. We are seeking an individual who is deeply passionate about manufacturing excellence, possesses a keen eye for detail, and demonstrates the unwavering drive to implement impactful and sustainable changes that elevate our operational capabilities.

- Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements (e.g., AS9100) and internal quality management systems.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies for manufacturing processes.
- Participate in design reviews, offering expert input on manufacturing capabilities and limitations.
- Manage process changes through a formal change control system.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Manufacturing Process Engineer in a high-precision engineering environment (aerospace, automotive, or similar).
- Strong understanding and application of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles (Green Belt certification preferred).
- Proficiency in process mapping, FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), and root cause analysis tools.
- Experience with CAD/CAM software (e.g., CATIA, Siemens NX) for process simulation and tooling design.
- Demonstrable experience with NPI (New Product Introduction) processes.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a data-driven approach to decision-making.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively in cross-functional teams.
- Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
- Solid understanding of material properties, machining processes, assembly techniques, and quality control methods.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Black Belt certification in Six Sigma.
- Experience with advanced manufacturing technologies (e.g., additive manufacturing, robotics, automation).
- Knowledge of aerospace industry standards and regulations (e.g., AS9100).
