Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Maintenance Worker to join our team in Kericho, Kericho County. This is an essential on-site role crucial for ensuring the impeccable upkeep and smooth operation of our properties, which include administrative buildings, staff quarters, and various operational facilities across our estates. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a wide range of maintenance duties, from routine inspections and preventive maintenance to addressing immediate repair needs. You will be a proactive problem-solver, adept at identifying potential issues before they escalate and executing timely, effective solutions. This role requires a hands-on approach, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team. Your contribution will directly impact the safety, functionality, and aesthetic appeal of our premises, creating a comfortable and efficient environment for our employees and operations. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work and is committed to maintaining our high standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine inspections of properties, including buildings, grounds, and equipment, to identify maintenance needs.
  • Conduct minor repairs and maintenance tasks such as painting, carpentry, plumbing (e.g., fixing leaky faucets, unclogging drains), and basic electrical work (e.g., changing light fixtures).
  • Maintain external areas, including groundskeeping, waste management, and ensuring pathways are clear and safe.
  • Operate and maintain various hand and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and troubleshoot issues efficiently.
  • Ensure all work adheres to safety standards and company policies.
  • Assist with the installation of new equipment or fixtures as required.
  • Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, including repairs performed and materials used.
  • Collaborate with other team members and contractors for specialized repairs or projects.
  • Manage inventory of maintenance supplies and request replenishment as needed.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Maintenance Worker or a similar role.
  • Strong practical skills in various trades including carpentry, plumbing, painting, and basic electrical.
  • Ability to operate and maintain various tools and equipment safely.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Good physical stamina and manual dexterity.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Basic understanding of safety procedures and regulations.
  • Effective communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical certificate or diploma in a relevant field (e.g., electrical, plumbing, carpentry).
  • Experience working in a large estate or industrial setting.
  • Valid Kenyan driving license.
