Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, train, and supervise a team of maintenance technicians and support staff.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive preventative maintenance programs for all estate facilities.
  • Oversee and perform hands-on repairs and upkeep for electrical, plumbing, HVAC, mechanical, and civil systems.
  • Conduct regular, thorough inspections of all properties, common areas, and infrastructure to identify and address maintenance issues proactively.
  • Manage relationships with external contractors, vendors, and service providers, ensuring quality service and cost-effectiveness.
  • Ensure strict compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations, as well as building codes.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of all maintenance activities, inventory, and expenses.
  • Respond promptly and efficiently to all maintenance requests and emergency situations, ensuring minimal disruption.
  • Assist in the development and management of the annual maintenance budget, controlling costs effectively.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports on maintenance performance, estate condition, and ongoing projects for management.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 4 years of proven experience in facilities, property, or estate maintenance management.
  • Strong technical knowledge of electrical systems, plumbing networks, HVAC units, and general building structures.
  • Demonstrated leadership, team management, and supervisory abilities.
  • Proficiency in developing and implementing effective preventative maintenance programs.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills for complex technical issues.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) software.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil) or Facilities Management.
  • Professional certifications such as Facilities Management Professional (FMP), Certified Facility Manager (CFM), or NEBOSH.
  • Experience with sustainable building practices or green initiatives.
  • Proven project management experience within a maintenance or construction context.
  • In-depth local knowledge of Apapa, Lagos, and surrounding areas.
