Job Description

Alpha Mead Facilities is seeking a dedicated and skilled Maintenance Staff member specializing in office repairs for our corporate buildings located around the Carter Bridge, Lagos Island area. This crucial role involves ensuring the optimal functionality, safety, and aesthetic appeal of our managed properties. You will be responsible for a wide range of repair and maintenance tasks, addressing issues promptly and efficiently to minimize disruption and uphold the highest standards of our facilities. From routine inspections to emergency repairs, your expertise will be vital in creating a conducive and comfortable environment for our clients and their occupants. The ideal candidate will possess a strong work ethic, diverse technical skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform general maintenance and repair tasks across corporate office buildings, including but not limited to electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and HVAC systems.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and troubleshoot issues related to building infrastructure and office equipment.
  • Conduct routine inspections of facilities to identify and address potential maintenance needs before they escalate.
  • Execute preventative maintenance schedules to ensure the longevity and efficiency of building systems.
  • Carry out minor construction and renovation work, such as painting, plastering, and fixture installation.
  • Ensure all repair work complies with safety standards, building codes, and company policies.
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, repairs performed, and materials used.
  • Collaborate with external vendors and contractors for specialized repairs or projects when necessary.
  • Assist in the setup and dismantling of office furniture, equipment, and event-related infrastructure.
  • Manage and organize maintenance tools, equipment, and spare parts inventory.
  • Provide regular updates to the Facilities Manager on the status of ongoing tasks and potential challenges.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in general maintenance and repair, specifically in corporate or commercial buildings.
  • Proficiency in basic electrical repairs (e.g., changing light fixtures, minor wiring issues).
  • Competency in basic plumbing (e.g., fixing leaks, unclogging drains, tap repairs).
  • Skilled in carpentry (e.g., door repairs, furniture assembly, minor woodwork).
  • Familiarity with HVAC systems for basic troubleshooting and filter changes.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High level of integrity, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety.
  • Physical fitness and ability to lift heavy objects and perform tasks requiring bending, climbing, and kneeling.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Vocational training or technical certification in electrical, plumbing, carpentry, or a related field.
  • Experience with facility management software or work order systems.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations pertinent to building maintenance.
  • Valid driver's license.
