Job Description
Ducab is seeking a highly skilled and proactive Maintenance Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team in Jebel Ali, Dubai. This critical role is essential for ensuring the optimal performance, reliability, and safety of our advanced manufacturing equipment and facilities. The Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for planning, executing, and overseeing all maintenance activities, from preventive and predictive maintenance programs to swift fault diagnosis and repair of complex machinery. You will play a pivotal role in minimizing downtime, improving operational efficiency, and extending the lifespan of our assets. This position requires a strong blend of technical expertise in mechanical, electrical, and control systems, coupled with excellent problem-solving abilities and a commitment to safety and quality. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor preventive and predictive maintenance schedules for all production machinery and utility systems to ensure optimal operational reliability.
- Conduct routine inspections, identify potential failures, and implement corrective actions proactively to prevent costly breakdowns and extend equipment lifespan.
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns, diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic faults efficiently, and execute repairs to minimize production downtime.
- Troubleshoot and maintain PLC-based control systems, Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs), Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), and other automation components.
- Collaborate with production teams to understand operational challenges and provide effective engineering solutions to improve equipment performance and overall reliability.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive maintenance records, including work orders, repair histories, spare parts consumption, and equipment modifications within the CMMS.
- Ensure strict adherence to all safety regulations, company policies, and quality standards during all maintenance activities, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
- Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) of equipment failures and implement long-term corrective and preventive actions to prevent recurrence.
- Assist in the installation, commissioning, and optimization of new equipment and machinery, ensuring seamless integration into existing production lines.
- Manage spare parts inventory, ensuring critical components are available while optimizing stock levels to balance availability and cost.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in maintenance processes, equipment reliability, and operational efficiency through data analysis and best practices.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or Industrial Engineering from a recognized university.
- Minimum of 4 years of proven experience as a Maintenance Engineer in a heavy industrial or manufacturing environment, preferably in cable manufacturing or similar continuous process industries.
- Strong technical expertise in mechanical systems (e.g., gearboxes, bearings, pumps, motors, hydraulics, pneumatics) and electrical systems (e.g., motor controls, power distribution, sensors, VFDs).
- Proficient in troubleshooting and programming Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) such as Siemens S7, Rockwell Automation (Allen-Bradley), or similar platforms.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics (electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic), Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), and equipment manuals.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a systematic approach to fault finding and resolution under pressure.
- Solid understanding of industrial safety procedures and best practices (e.g., LOTO, confined space entry, working at heights).
- Proficiency in using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) for planning, scheduling, and recording maintenance activities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective teamwork, collaboration with various departments, and vendor interaction.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Engineering or a related field.
- Certification in Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.
- Experience with condition monitoring techniques (e.g., vibration analysis, thermography, oil analysis).
- Working knowledge of SAP Plant Maintenance (PM) module or similar Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
- Familiarity with UAE specific regulations and international standards relevant to manufacturing and industrial safety.
- Project management experience related to equipment upgrades, installations, or facility modifications.
- Valid UAE Driving License.
