Job Description
Zenith Bank Plc is seeking a diligent and proactive Maintenance Assistant to join our Facilities Management team, focusing on building upkeep at our prominent corporate facility in Egbeda, Alimosho. This is a vital on-site role that ensures the continuous smooth operation, safety, and aesthetic appeal of our premises. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of routine maintenance tasks, conducting minor repairs across various building systems, and supporting the facilities manager in maintaining a high-quality environment. This role requires a hands-on individual with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to maintaining a professional corporate setting that reflects Zenith Bank’s high standards. You will be instrumental in ensuring that our facility remains a conducive and safe place for our employees, customers, and visitors alike. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular and thorough inspections of the corporate facility to identify maintenance needs, potential hazards, and areas requiring immediate repair or attention.
- Perform minor electrical repairs, including changing light bulbs, switches, ballasts, and ensuring proper functioning of power outlets and basic electrical systems.
- Execute basic plumbing tasks such as fixing leaky faucets, unclogging drains, repairing toilets, and maintaining water fixtures to prevent water wastage.
- Undertake general carpentry work, including minor furniture repairs, door adjustments, hinge replacements, wall patching, and minor drywall repairs.
- Assist in painting and touch-up work to maintain the aesthetic appeal of the facility’s interior and exterior surfaces.
- Support the implementation of preventative maintenance schedules for HVAC systems, generators, UPS systems, and other critical building equipment.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of maintenance workshops, tool storage areas, and general work sites to ensure a safe working environment.
- Operate and maintain a variety of hand and power tools safely and efficiently, ensuring they are in good working condition.
- Report significant maintenance issues, equipment malfunctions, or major repair needs to the Facilities Manager promptly and accurately.
- Ensure strict adherence to all health and safety regulations, building codes, and company policies during all maintenance activities.
- Assist in the setup and dismantling of equipment or furniture for office reconfigurations, meetings, or special corporate events.
- Manage and track inventory of spare parts, tools, and maintenance supplies, initiating replenishment requests as needed to avoid stock-outs.
Required Skills
- Demonstrated foundational knowledge and practical experience in at least two of the following trades: electrical, plumbing, carpentry, or general building maintenance.
- Proficiency in using common hand and power tools safely and effectively for various repair and maintenance tasks.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive, hands-on approach to identifying and resolving issues efficiently.
- Excellent physical stamina and dexterity, with the ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) and work in various physical positions.
- Keen attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of workmanship and facility presentation.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, for reporting maintenance status and interacting with team members.
- A strong understanding and unwavering commitment to workplace safety protocols and procedures.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and also as a collaborative team member.
Preferred Qualifications
- An Ordinary National Diploma (OND) or equivalent technical certification in Electrical, Mechanical, Building Technology, or a closely related field.
- Previous experience (at least 1 year) in a maintenance role within a corporate, commercial, or institutional environment.
- Certification in First Aid and Basic Fire Safety.
- Basic computer literacy for logging maintenance activities, managing inventory records, and accessing digital work orders.
