As a Long-Haul Truck Driver, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient transport of goods from their point of origin to various destinations, often spanning multiple regions. Before each trip, you will conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of your vehicle and cargo, ensuring everything meets safety standards and regulatory compliance. Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate heavy-duty trucks for long-haul routes across specified regions.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of vehicles and cargo.
- Load and unload cargo, or oversee the loading/unloading process, ensuring secure and compliant transport.
- Adhere strictly to all national traffic laws, company safety regulations, and industry best practices.
- Maintain accurate logbooks, trip reports, vehicle maintenance records, and delivery documentation.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with dispatch, clients, and other team members.
- Perform minor vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting, reporting mechanical issues promptly.
- Manage delivery schedules and routes efficiently to meet deadlines and optimize travel time.
- Represent the company and its partners professionally to clients and the public at all times.
- Ensure the cleanliness and proper working order of the assigned commercial vehicle.
Required Skills
- Valid Class C/CE Commercial Driver's License (or equivalent for Rwanda).
- Minimum 2 years of proven long-haul truck driving experience.
- Clean driving record with no major accidents or traffic violations.
- Excellent knowledge of road safety regulations and driving laws in Rwanda.
- Ability to perform detailed pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections.
- Proficiency in maintaining accurate logbooks and other trip-related documentation.
- Strong physical stamina and ability to endure long hours of driving and occasional heavy lifting.
- Basic mechanical aptitude for minor roadside adjustments and maintenance checks.
- Fluent in Kinyarwanda, with a working knowledge of English or French for communication.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with various types of cargo (e.g., dry van, refrigerated, flatbed).
- Familiarity with modern GPS navigation systems and route optimization software.
- Additional safety certifications (e.g., defensive driving, hazmat endorsement).
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently under pressure.
- Demonstrated customer service orientation and professional demeanor when interacting with clients.
