Job Description
We are seeking highly skilled and responsible Long-Haul Truck Drivers to join our growing team, operating from our Isiolo base. This pivotal role involves the safe and timely transportation of goods across long distances, primarily within Kenya and potentially into neighboring East African countries. As a Long-Haul Truck Driver for Multiple Hauliers (EA) Ltd., you will be entrusted with valuable cargo, representing our commitment to reliability and customer satisfaction on every journey. Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate heavy-duty trucks for long-haul routes, adhering to all traffic laws and company policies.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip vehicle inspections, reporting any defects or issues promptly.
- Ensure timely and efficient delivery of freight to designated locations, meeting scheduled timelines.
- Secure cargo properly to prevent shifting, damage, or loss during transit.
- Maintain accurate logbooks, delivery manifests, and all required documentation (e.g., permits, mileage reports).
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, logistics coordinators, and clients regarding pick-ups, deliveries, and any potential delays or issues.
- Adhere strictly to Hours of Service (HOS) regulations to ensure driver safety and compliance.
- Perform minor roadside repairs and routine vehicle maintenance checks as needed.
- Represent the company professionally to clients and the public at all times.
- Comply with all safety protocols and procedures, including those related to hazardous materials (if applicable).
Required Skills
- Valid Class G/H or equivalent heavy commercial vehicle driving license.
- Minimum of 3 years of verifiable long-haul truck driving experience.
- Clean driving record with no major accidents or violations.
- Proven knowledge of traffic laws, safety regulations, and HOS rules.
- Ability to perform pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections.
- Strong navigation and route planning skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Physical ability to lift heavy objects and perform demanding tasks associated with truck driving.
- Basic mechanical knowledge for troubleshooting minor vehicle issues.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certificate in Defensive Driving.
- Experience with diverse types of cargo and trailer configurations.
- Knowledge of East African regional road networks and border crossing procedures.
- First Aid certification.
- Familiarity with GPS navigation systems and electronic logging devices (ELDs).
