Job Description

Are you a skilled and experienced long-haul truck driver with a passion for the open road and a commitment to safe, timely delivery? Siginon Group, a leader in logistics and freight transportation, is looking for dedicated Long Haul Truck Drivers to join our Kisumu team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for transporting a diverse range of freight across long distances within Kenya and potentially into East African neighboring countries. You will operate modern, well-maintained heavy commercial vehicles, ensuring the secure and efficient delivery of goods to various destinations. This position demands a high level of professionalism, strict adherence to safety regulations, and meticulous attention to detail in vehicle operation and cargo handling. We are seeking individuals who are reliable, resilient, and possess excellent navigational skills, along with a strong understanding of road safety protocols and vehicle maintenance. Key Responsibilities

  • Operate heavy commercial vehicles (trucks) for long-haul freight transportation routes, adhering to strict schedules and delivery timelines.
  • Ensure the safe loading, securing, and unloading of cargo, following company procedures and industry best practices.
  • Conduct pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of vehicles, including tires, lights, brakes, fluid levels, and other safety equipment.
  • Perform minor emergency roadside repairs or report issues to the dispatch team promptly for assistance.
  • Maintain accurate logbooks, mileage records, fuel receipts, and other required documentation, both manual and electronic.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch, clients, and other team members regarding delivery status, delays, or any incidents.
  • Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, transportation regulations, and company safety policies.
  • Represent Siginon Group professionally at all times, maintaining positive relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  • Manage delivery paperwork and obtain necessary signatures upon delivery.
  • Monitor vehicle performance and report any maintenance needs or mechanical issues to the workshop.
  • Ensure cargo security throughout the journey, including proper sealing and checking for tampering.

Required Skills

  • Valid Class G/H (Heavy Commercial Vehicle) driving license with no endorsements.
  • Minimum of 3 years demonstrable experience as a long-haul truck driver.
  • Clean driving record and a strong understanding of Kenyan traffic laws.
  • Proven ability to operate various types of heavy commercial vehicles safely and efficiently.
  • Excellent navigation skills and familiarity with major routes across Kenya and East Africa.
  • Basic knowledge of vehicle mechanics and ability to perform minor roadside repairs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • High level of physical fitness and stamina for long driving hours.
  • Proven reliability and punctuality.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certificate of Good Conduct.
  • Defensive driving certification.
  • Experience with specialized cargo (e.g., hazardous materials, refrigerated goods).
  • Familiarity with electronic logging devices (ELDs) and GPS tracking systems.
  • Ability to communicate in basic Swahili and English.
