Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate a company-provided van to transport goods to designated locations.
- Perform comprehensive pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of vehicles and associated equipment, reporting any issues promptly.
- Load and unload cargo efficiently and safely, ensuring proper securing and handling to prevent damage during transit.
- Verify accuracy of shipment contents against delivery manifests and obtain necessary signatures or confirmations.
- Maintain accurate logs of deliveries, mileage, fuel consumption, and any incidents in accordance with company and regulatory standards.
- Adhere strictly to all local, state, and federal traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies at all times.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with dispatch, clients, and team members regarding delivery status, potential delays, or issues.
- Provide exceptional customer service during deliveries, representing the company with a professional demeanor.
- Maintain cleanliness and perform basic maintenance checks of the vehicle to ensure optimal operating condition.
- Navigate routes efficiently using GPS and mapping tools, adapting to traffic and road conditions as necessary.
- Address and resolve minor delivery issues or discrepancies on-site, or escalate complex problems to supervisors for resolution.
Required Skills
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift and move packages weighing up to 50 lbs independently and safely.
- Minimum of 1 year of proven experience in route delivery or commercial driving.
- Strong understanding of traffic laws, road safety regulations, and defensive driving techniques.
- Excellent time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as an integral part of a team.
- Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge and troubleshooting skills to address minor issues.
