Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate company-provided cargo vans for local and regional deliveries within schedule.
- Efficiently load and unload goods, ensuring secure placement and proper handling to prevent damage.
- Plan and follow the most efficient routes for timely deliveries, utilizing GPS and navigation tools.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, promptly reporting any maintenance issues or defects.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, records, and comprehensive documentation (e.g., manifests, proof of delivery forms).
- Communicate effectively and professionally with dispatch, warehouse staff, and customers regarding delivery status or unforeseen issues.
- Adhere rigorously to all local, state, and federal driving regulations, as well as strict company safety standards.
- Provide exceptional customer service during deliveries, representing the company with professionalism and courtesy.
- Accurately handle and process returns or rejected shipments in strict accordance with company procedures.
- Maintain cleanliness and appropriate fuel levels of assigned vehicles daily.
Required Skills
- Valid Indiana Driver's License (Class D or higher) with a clean driving record.
- Proven experience as a delivery driver or in a similar transportation role (1+ years).
- Ability to regularly lift and carry packages weighing up to 50 lbs without assistance.
- Strong knowledge of local Indianapolis and surrounding area routes and traffic patterns.
- Excellent time management, organizational, and route optimization skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and effectively as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective customer and team interaction.
- Basic mechanical knowledge for routine vehicle checks and minor issue identification.
Preferred Qualifications
