Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently operate a company-provided delivery van for local and regional routes.
- Load and unload merchandise, ensuring proper handling and securing of items to prevent damage during transit.
- Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, reporting any maintenance needs or issues promptly.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, company safety policies, and transportation regulations.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, records, and manifest documentation.
- Interact professionally and courteously with customers during deliveries, providing excellent service.
- Plan and follow the most efficient routes using GPS and routing software.
- Manage delivery schedules to ensure timely arrivals and departures.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and logistics coordinators regarding delivery status or unforeseen issues.
- Handle delivery paperwork and collect signatures as required.
Required Skills
- Valid California Class C Driver's License (or equivalent)
- Clean driving record with no major violations for the past 3-5 years
- Ability to lift and move packages weighing up to 50 lbs regularly
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
- Proficiency with GPS devices and navigation applications
- High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
- 1-2 years of professional driving or delivery experience
- Familiarity with Oakland and surrounding Bay Area routes
- Experience with hand trucks, pallet jacks, and other delivery equipment
