Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently operate a company-provided delivery van for extended periods.
- Execute timely pick-ups and deliveries of goods according to established routes and schedules.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, reporting any maintenance needs or issues promptly.
- Verify cargo against delivery manifest, ensuring accuracy of items loaded and delivered.
- Properly secure all loads to prevent shifting and damage during transit.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including mileage logs, delivery confirmations, and fuel receipts.
- Provide excellent customer service during deliveries, interacting professionally and courteously.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, company policies, and safety regulations.
- Assist with loading and unloading packages, using appropriate equipment and techniques.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and team members regarding route status, delays, or issues.
- Handle delivery-related paperwork and electronic devices for proof of delivery (POD) capture.
Required Skills
- Valid driver's license (Class D or equivalent) with a clean driving record.
- Proven experience as a delivery driver or in a similar logistics role.
- Excellent knowledge of local geography and street navigation in New Orleans and surrounding areas.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull packages weighing up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage daily routes effectively.
- Exceptional reliability and punctuality.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge and troubleshooting skills.
