Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate a commercial van for local and regional deliveries within Omaha and surrounding areas.
- Load, unload, and secure various types of cargo, ensuring safe transport and preventing damage.
- Plan and execute efficient delivery routes to meet scheduled deadlines and optimize fuel consumption.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, documenting any mechanical issues or maintenance needs.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, including mileage, fuel consumption, delivery confirmations, and customer feedback.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with dispatch, clients, and team members regarding delivery status or potential issues.
- Adhere strictly to all local, state, and federal traffic laws, as well as company safety policies and procedures.
- Provide exceptional customer service during deliveries, handling packages with care and professionalism.
- Resolve minor delivery issues or discrepancies with a professional and problem-solving approach.
- Maintain cleanliness and general upkeep of the assigned company vehicle.
- Operate handheld devices for navigation, route optimization, and delivery tracking.
Required Skills
- Valid Class D Driver's License (or equivalent for commercial vans).
- Clean driving record with no major infractions or accidents for the past 3-5 years.
- Proven ability to operate a commercial van safely and efficiently.
- Strong knowledge of local Omaha and surrounding area routes.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks.
- Ability to lift and move packages weighing up to 50 lbs unassisted, and up to 75 lbs with assistance.
- Basic mechanical knowledge for routine vehicle inspections and minor troubleshooting.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with customers and colleagues.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Reliability and punctuality.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a delivery driver or logistics driver (1-2 years).
