Job Description

Are you a detail-oriented and proactive individual with a passion for optimizing logistics processes? DSV Switzerland is seeking a dedicated Logistics Technician to join our dynamic team in Zurich. In this critical role, you will be instrumental in ensuring the smooth and efficient flow of goods through our state-of-the-art logistics facilities. You will be responsible for a wide array of tasks, from inventory management and quality control to coordinating shipments and implementing process improvements. As a Logistics Technician, you will work closely with warehouse operations, transportation teams, and customer service to uphold our commitment to excellence. Your daily activities will involve utilizing advanced warehouse management systems (WMS), performing regular inventory audits, preparing documentation for international and domestic shipments, and ensuring compliance with all relevant safety and customs regulations. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain accurate inventory records using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
  • Oversee the receiving, storage, and dispatch of goods, ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards.
  • Prepare and process all necessary documentation for domestic and international shipments, including customs paperwork.
  • Conduct regular physical inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies.
  • Coordinate with internal departments (e.g., transport, customer service) and external partners (e.g., carriers, suppliers).
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to logistics operations.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains.
  • Operate material handling equipment safely and efficiently (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks).
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant industry regulations, health and safety standards, and company policies.
  • Assist in training junior staff members on logistics procedures and best practices.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Logistics Technician, Warehouse Specialist, or similar role.
  • Strong proficiency in Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent understanding of logistics and supply chain principles.
  • Ability to operate material handling equipment (forklift license preferred).
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (German and English required).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Federal VET Diploma (EFZ) in Logistics or equivalent vocational training.
  • Experience with SAP or other major ERP systems.
  • Knowledge of Swiss customs regulations and international trade compliance.
  • Additional language skills (e.g., French, Italian).
  • Certification in Lean Six Sigma or other process improvement methodologies.
