Key Responsibilities
- Operate company vehicles safely and efficiently to deliver goods to various locations within Paarl and surrounding areas.
- Adhere strictly to traffic laws and company safety policies and procedures.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, reporting any maintenance issues promptly.
- Load and unload goods accurately and carefully, ensuring secure transportation.
- Verify delivery contents against shipping documents and obtain necessary signatures.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including mileage, fuel consumption, and delivery times.
- Provide exceptional customer service during interactions, handling inquiries and resolving minor issues professionally.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and team members regarding route status, delays, or challenges.
- Keep the vehicle clean and organized, representing the company professionally at all times.
Required Skills
- Valid Code 8 (B) South African driver's license
- Clean driving record
- Ability to lift and move packages up to 25 kg
- Good geographical knowledge or ability to use GPS/navigation tools effectively
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Basic understanding of vehicle safety and maintenance
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Familiarity with the Paarl and Western Cape road networks
- Previous experience in a customer-facing role
- Basic computer literacy for logging deliveries
