As a Logistics Delivery Driver, you will be the face of our client’s operations, responsible for the safe, timely, and accurate delivery of goods to various destinations within Makurdi and its environs. Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently operate company vehicles (vans, light trucks) for the delivery of goods to designated locations.
- Load and unload packages carefully, ensuring goods are properly secured to prevent damage during transit.
- Verify the accuracy of delivery manifests against items loaded and delivered, obtaining necessary signatures and documentation.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, company safety policies, and local regulations.
- Plan and optimize delivery routes to ensure timely and cost-effective transportation.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and team members regarding delivery status, delays, or issues.
- Perform routine pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, reporting any mechanical issues or maintenance needs promptly.
- Maintain cleanliness and upkeep of the assigned delivery vehicle.
- Handle customer interactions professionally, addressing inquiries or concerns courteously.
- Process cash on delivery (COD) payments and maintain accurate records as required.
Required Skills
- Valid Nigerian Driver's License (Class G minimum)
- Proven experience as a delivery driver or in a similar role
- Excellent knowledge of Makurdi roads and routes
- Ability to lift and carry heavy packages (up to 50 kg)
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- High level of integrity and professionalism
- Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge
Preferred Qualifications
- SSCE/GCE/NECO or equivalent
- Previous experience with handheld scanning devices or delivery management software
- Familiarity with various types of goods and packaging requirements
- Customer service experience in a delivery context
