Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Logistics and Supply Chain Manager to optimize our end-to-end supply chain operations in Rwanda. This critical role is responsible for the strategic planning, execution, and oversight of all logistics activities, including warehousing, transportation, inventory management, and distribution. The successful candidate will drive efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance service levels across our complex supply network, ensuring the timely and cost-effective delivery of our high-quality products to markets nationwide. You will be instrumental in developing and implementing best-in-class supply chain strategies, leveraging technology, and fostering strong relationships with suppliers, distributors, and internal stakeholders. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategic logistics and supply chain plans to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service levels.
- Oversee all warehousing, inventory management, and distribution operations, ensuring optimal stock levels and timely delivery.
- Manage the transportation network, including fleet management, route optimization, and carrier selection and performance.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing logistics team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
- Negotiate contracts with suppliers, vendors, and logistics service providers to secure favorable terms and ensure service quality.
- Implement and manage supply chain technology solutions, including ERP and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track logistics performance, identify areas for improvement, and report on progress.
- Ensure compliance with all local and international regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
- Identify and mitigate supply chain risks, including disruptions, demand fluctuations, and operational challenges.
- Drive sustainability initiatives within the supply chain, focusing on environmental impact reduction and ethical practices.
Required Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in logistics and supply chain management, preferably in the FMCG sector.
- Proven track record of developing and implementing successful supply chain strategies.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP) and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
- Exceptional negotiation and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and cross-functional teams.
- In-depth knowledge of local and international logistics regulations and best practices.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Supply Chain Management or a related field.
- Professional certification such as CSCP (Certified Supply Chain Professional) or CPIM (Certified in Production and Inventory Management).
- Experience working in a multinational company environment.
- Familiarity with lean logistics and Six Sigma methodologies.
