Job Description

Are you a seasoned logistics professional with a passion for optimizing operations and leading a high-performing fleet? Planzer Transport AG is seeking a dynamic and experienced Logistics and Fleet Manager to join our team in Dietikon, Zurich Canton. In this critical role, you will be instrumental in overseeing all aspects of our regional logistics operations and managing our diverse fleet of vehicles. You will be responsible for ensuring the efficient, safe, and cost-effective movement of goods, from strategic planning and route optimization to fleet maintenance and driver management. This position demands a keen eye for detail, strong leadership capabilities, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. You will work closely with various departments, suppliers, and customers to streamline processes, enhance service quality, and maintain compliance with all relevant regulations. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and optimize daily logistics operations, including route planning, scheduling, and load consolidation for maximum efficiency.
  • Oversee the entire fleet, ensuring vehicles are maintained, serviced, and compliant with all Swiss road safety and environmental regulations.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of drivers and logistics coordinators, fostering a culture of safety, efficiency, and professional growth.
  • Monitor and analyze operational data to identify areas for improvement and implement effective solutions.
  • Manage the logistics and fleet budget, tracking expenses, and identifying cost-saving opportunities without compromising service quality.
  • Negotiate and manage relationships with external suppliers, including maintenance providers, fuel suppliers, and technology vendors.
  • Ensure strict adherence to all internal company policies, national and international transport laws, and customs regulations.
  • Implement and enforce health and safety protocols for fleet operations and warehousing activities.
  • Utilize transport management systems (TMS) and other logistics software to enhance operational visibility and control.
  • Respond to and resolve operational issues, incidents, and customer complaints efficiently and professionally.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 5 years of proven experience in logistics and fleet management, preferably within Switzerland.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills with a track record of motivating and developing staff.
  • In-depth knowledge of Swiss transport regulations, customs procedures, and road safety standards.
  • Proficiency in using Transport Management Systems (TMS) and other logistics software (e.g., ERP systems).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Strong communication skills in German (fluent, written and spoken) and good working knowledge of English.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and optimize operational costs.
  • Valid Swiss driver's license (Category B minimum, C/CE advantageous).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Higher education (e.g., Bachelor’s degree or Federal Diploma) in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience with sustainable logistics practices and alternative fuel vehicles.
  • Additional language skills (e.g., French, Italian).
  • Certification in Lean Logistics or Six Sigma methodologies.
