Job Description

Career.supersecrets is seeking a dedicated and meticulous Local Food Processor to join a dynamic team focused on transforming Malumfashi’s rich agricultural produce into high-quality, safe, and delicious food products for the community. This pivotal role involves hands-on work in various stages of food processing, from initial preparation to packaging, ensuring that all products meet stringent quality and hygiene standards. You will be instrumental in supporting local farmers by adding value to their harvests and contributing directly to local food security and economic development. Key Responsibilities

  • Receive, inspect, and sort raw agricultural materials such as grains, fruits, and vegetables for quality and freshness.
  • Perform thorough cleaning, washing, peeling, and cutting of food items according to specified procedures and recipes.
  • Operate and monitor various food processing equipment, including grinders, mixers, dryers, and packaging machines, safely and efficiently.
  • Adhere strictly to all food safety, hygiene, and sanitation regulations (e.g., HACCP principles, local health codes) at all times.
  • Monitor product quality at different stages of processing to ensure consistency and adherence to standards.
  • Accurately weigh, package, and label finished food products for distribution.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work environment, including equipment and processing areas.
  • Record production data, inventory levels, and report any equipment malfunctions or quality control issues to supervisors.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members to optimize production workflow and achieve daily targets.
  • Participate in training sessions on new processing techniques, equipment, and food safety protocols.

Required Skills

  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Ability to meticulously follow instructions and standard operating procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality products.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to stand for extended periods, lift moderate weights (up to 25kg), and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Fundamental understanding of food hygiene and sanitation practices.
  • Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience (6-12 months) in food handling, processing, manufacturing, or a related agricultural role.
  • Knowledge of local food products, traditional processing methods, and regional culinary practices.
  • Possession of a Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) or its equivalent.
  • A certificate in food safety or hygiene is a distinct advantage.
  • Familiarity with operating basic food processing machinery.
