Joburg City Theatres is seeking a dynamic and highly organized Local Event Coordinator to join our team, specifically focused on community engagement and event execution within Pimville, Soweto. Key Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and execute a diverse range of local events within Pimville, including cultural festivals, workshops, educational programs, and community gatherings.
- Develop detailed event proposals, including timelines, budgets, staffing requirements, and marketing strategies.
- Liaise with local community leaders, artists, vendors, sponsors, and internal stakeholders to ensure seamless event delivery.
- Manage all logistical aspects of events, including venue selection, permits, equipment rental, catering, and on-site setup/teardown.
- Recruit, train, and manage event staff and volunteers, ensuring they are well-briefed and motivated.
- Oversee event marketing and promotion, collaborating with our marketing team to create engaging content for local channels.
- Monitor event budgets, track expenses, and ensure cost-effective resource utilization.
- Conduct post-event evaluations, gather feedback, and prepare reports on event success and areas for improvement.
- Ensure all events comply with safety regulations, local bylaws, and company policies.
- Foster strong relationships within the Pimville community to identify new event opportunities and partnerships.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in event coordination or project management, preferably in a community or cultural setting.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
- Budget management and financial tracking proficiency.
