Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate and maintain company vehicles (vans, bikes) for local pick-up and delivery within Nyanya, Abuja, and surrounding areas.
- Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, ensuring they are in optimal working condition and reporting any maintenance needs promptly.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, company safety policies, and local regulations to ensure the safety of yourself, colleagues, and the public.
- Verify packages against delivery manifests, ensuring accuracy and accountability for all items loaded and delivered.
- Load and unload packages efficiently and carefully, utilizing appropriate handling techniques to prevent damage.
- Plan and execute efficient delivery routes using navigation tools and local knowledge to meet strict delivery schedules.
- Provide exceptional customer service during deliveries, interacting professionally and courteously with recipients.
- Collect proof of delivery (signatures, photos) as required and accurately record delivery information using handheld devices or manual logs.
- Handle cash or digital payments for Cash-on-Delivery (COD) services, ensuring accurate reconciliation at the end of each shift.
- Communicate effectively with the dispatch team regarding delivery status, delays, or any issues encountered on route.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the company vehicle.
- Assist with warehouse tasks such as sorting, packing, and organizing packages when not on delivery routes.
Required Skills
- Valid Nigerian Driver's License (e.g., Class G for bikes, Class E for vans/cars)
- Minimum of 1 year professional driving experience, preferably in local delivery
- Clean driving record with no major traffic violations in the past 3 years
- Excellent knowledge of Nyanya, Abuja, and surrounding routes
- Ability to use GPS and navigation applications effectively
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Good physical stamina and ability to lift and carry packages up to 25kg
- Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge and troubleshooting skills
- High level of responsibility and reliability
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Experience with courier or logistics company deliveries
- Proficiency in using delivery tracking software or mobile apps
- Previous customer service experience
- Familiarity with different types of delivery vehicles (vans, motorcycles)
