Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Loan Officer to join our dynamic team in Hammond, Louisiana. As a Loan Officer at First Guaranty Bank, you will be instrumental in guiding our clients through the lending process, helping them achieve their financial goals, whether it’s buying a home, starting a business, or managing personal finances. This role requires a strong understanding of various loan products, excellent sales and customer service skills, and a commitment to maintaining the highest ethical standards. You will be responsible for originating, underwriting, and closing loans in accordance with bank policies and regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential clients, understanding their financial needs and offering appropriate lending solutions.
- Actively solicit new loan business through networking, community involvement, and referrals.
- Interview loan applicants to gather necessary financial and personal information, analyzing creditworthiness and financial capacity.
- Prepare comprehensive loan applications, ensuring accuracy and completeness, and present them to the loan committee for approval.
- Guide clients through the entire loan process, from application to closing, clearly explaining terms, conditions, and required documentation.
- Stay current with market trends, interest rates, and all relevant lending regulations and bank policies.
- Collaborate with internal departments, including processing, underwriting, and compliance, to ensure a seamless and efficient lending experience.
- Resolve customer inquiries and issues promptly and professionally.
- Meet and exceed established loan production and quality goals.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in loan origination or a related financial services role.
- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
- Strong knowledge of various loan products (e.g., consumer, mortgage, commercial) and lending practices.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and loan origination software.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- NMLS registration (or ability to obtain within a reasonable timeframe).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Existing network within the Hammond, Louisiana community.
- Experience with local market real estate and business trends.
- Prior experience with Fiserv or similar core banking systems.
