Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Livestock Breeder to join our growing team in Kaduna. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in overseeing the breeding program for our livestock, ensuring the health, welfare, and productivity of our animals. This role demands a deep understanding of animal husbandry, breeding techniques, and livestock management best practices. You will be responsible for implementing and monitoring breeding programs, maintaining accurate records, and collaborating with veterinary staff to ensure animal health. Key Responsibilities
- Developing and implementing breeding programs for livestock (cattle, sheep, goats, poultry)
- Selecting and managing breeding stock based on genetic merit and health
- Monitoring reproductive performance of animals and implementing corrective measures as needed
- Maintaining accurate and detailed records of breeding activities, including pedigree, health, and performance data
- Ensuring the health and welfare of all livestock under your care
- Collaborating with veterinary staff to prevent and control diseases
- Managing feed and nutrition programs to optimize animal growth and reproduction
- Overseeing the overall cleanliness and maintenance of livestock facilities
- Implementing biosecurity protocols to prevent the introduction and spread of diseases
- Participating in training and development programs to enhance professional skills
