Key Responsibilities
- Operate light trucks safely and efficiently to deliver and pick up packages, documents, and other goods as per scheduled routes.
- Ensure timely and accurate delivery of items to designated locations, adhering to delivery schedules and customer requirements.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, maintaining cleanliness and reporting any mechanical issues promptly.
- Verify the contents of shipments against shipping documents, ensuring accuracy and proper handling of all items.
- Obtain necessary signatures and complete delivery paperwork accurately.
- Handle cash and process payments for deliveries when required, maintaining accurate records.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and team members regarding delivery status, delays, or issues.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, company safety policies, and procedures.
- Provide exceptional customer service during all interactions, representing Red Star Express Plc professionally.
- Assist with loading and unloading packages as needed, ensuring proper securing of goods.
Required Skills
- Valid Class E or G Driver's License (Light Truck category) with a clean driving record.
- Minimum of 2 years of professional driving experience, preferably in a delivery or logistics environment.
- Sound knowledge of Lagos road networks, especially Mushin and surrounding areas.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lift and move packages of varying weights (up to 25kg) comfortably.
- High level of integrity, reliability, and punctuality.
- Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge.
Preferred Qualifications
- Secondary School Certificate (SSCE/GCE/NECO).
- Certification in defensive driving or advanced driving skills.
- Previous experience with handheld delivery devices or logistics software.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, if required.
- Experience driving a variety of light commercial vehicles.
