Uvongo River Resort is actively seeking a highly dedicated, alert, and compassionate Lifeguard to join our dynamic and welcoming team. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in ensuring the utmost safety and boundless enjoyment of our esteemed guests across our various swimming pools and designated beach zones. Key Responsibilities
- Monitor swimming pools and designated beach areas to prevent accidents and ensure the safety of all guests.
- Enforce all pool rules and regulations firmly but courteously, explaining them clearly to guests.
- Administer immediate first aid and CPR in emergency situations, performing water rescues as required with precision and speed.
- Conduct regular safety checks of pool equipment, including rescue tools, signage, and surrounding areas, reporting any hazards promptly.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the pool deck, changing rooms, and lifeguard station.
- Provide excellent guest service, answering questions about resort facilities and offering assistance with a positive and helpful attitude.
- Participate actively in ongoing training sessions and ensure all certifications are current and renewed as required by regulations.
- Complete daily logs, incident reports, and other necessary documentation accurately and promptly.
- Collaborate effectively with other resort staff, including hospitality and maintenance teams, to ensure a seamless and safe guest experience.
Required Skills
- Valid Lifeguard certification from a recognized authority (e.g., Lifesaving South Africa or equivalent).
- Current First Aid and CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) certification.
- Exceptional swimming abilities, including strong endurance and proficiency in various rescue techniques.
- Strong observational skills and the ability to remain alert and focused for extended periods.
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with guests and colleagues.
- Ability to react calmly, decisively, and effectively in high-pressure and emergency situations.
- Proven reliability, punctuality, and a strong sense of responsibility.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Lifeguard in a busy resort, hotel, or public pool setting.
- Additional water safety certifications or specialized rescue training (e.g., advanced first aid, oxygen administration).
- Fluency in additional South African languages (e.g., isiZulu, Afrikaans) to better assist diverse guests.
- Demonstrated customer service experience within the hospitality or tourism industry.
